Optical Track Inspection System (OTIS)
OTIS is an automatic optical track inspection service provided by STI-Global which combines precise error detection with high processing speeds.
This is integrated with STI-Global's engineering expertise to provide the customer with a full service. This includes preliminary programme benchmarking, track scanning, data storage and processing, and report generation. Generally, this service is provided as part of a risk management and infrastructure optimisation programme to enable track owners to better manage the maintenance scheduling and resources to deliver a safer track with more access and hence greater productivity. Surveys are conducted generally every 3-4 months but in Europe the surveys are ongoing.
The OTIS™ service provides regular and economic track inspection and any damage is identified very early enabling immediate remediation of either the track or identified wheel set problems that cause track damage. This increases track access and substantially extends the lifecycle of tracks through a preventative and 'just-in-time' maintenance programme.
Imposing virtually no restrictions on scheduled rail traffic, these systems provide regular and economic track inspection. Damages are therefore discovered very early, making it possible to substantially extend the lifecycle of tracks through preventative measures.
