Dynamic Pantograph Performance Measurement

Dynamic Pantograph Performance Measurement monitors the condition of the pantographs used in electrified lines by measuring the uplift of the overhead wire as an electric train passes by.

Uplift control is important because too little uplift causes excessive arcing.  Too much uplift causes excessive wear and tear and greatly increases the likelihood that the wire will eventually drop off the pantograph.
